Malheureusement, les choses étant ce qu'elles sont, la plupart des gens préféreront rester prisonniers de leurs illusions, qui sont beaucoup plus confortables que d'affronter la réalité (et, partant, de pouvoir éventuellement la changer, ce qui demande de gros efforts pas toujours couronnés de succès).

La vie intellectuelle française, depuis au moins 1945, donne l'impression d'un asile d'aliénés où s'ébrouent en liberté charlatans, pseudo-philosophes à la Bernard-Henri Lévy, et malades mentaux caractérisés du genre Lacan, dans une ambiance délétère de terrorisme intellectuel généralisé relevé d'une épaisse couche de bêtise crasse, le tout saupoudré à foison de paillettes et de clinquant. Le seul pays où les staliniens fanatiques des années 50 se sont reconvertis sans aucun problème dans l'américanolâtrie sénile. Le seul pays on l'on persiste à croire, avec la foi du charbonnier, que Lacan, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Bataille, Foucault, Deleuze, Guattari, Kristeva, Derrida, Sollers (etc, etc, la liste est longue) sont des phares du genre humain, quand dans le même temps Bertrand Russell y est inconnu, Noam Chomsky traité routinièrement de néo-nazi, et les mathématiques considérés comme une invention vaguement satanique.

Pauvre France, qui plus de deux siècles après, ressent encore frénétiquement le besoin d'expier d'avoir coupé la tête à son roi.

Merci de votre commentaire.

Comme vous le savez peut-être, je suis moi aussi passablement critique de la vie intellectuelle française (mais peut-être faut-il dire ici: parisienne et médiatique?) récente dans les «humanités» — car il ne faut pas oublier que pareilles sottises ne se retrouvent absolument pas dans les sciences ou dans les mathématiques.

Pour ce qui est des groupes comme Randi, les Sceptiques du Québec, Skeptic, CSICOP et autres, à ma connaissance, qui n'est pas énorme, il y a en France les groupes Zététiques (fondés par Henri Broch, si je ne m'abuse) et l'AFIS: ils font , il me semble, de l'excellent travail. qui gagnerait à être plus (et mieux) connu.

Anonyme a dit…: Chomsky, néo-nazi! Tout cela à cause de l'affaire Faurrisson. Par contre, il est vrai que, parfois, les gens qui essaient d'être claire sont mal compris. Pourquoi? Je crois personnellement que:

1. -les gens sont habitués aux phrases-clips;

2. -pour leur expliquer les tenants et aboutissants d'une pensée politique, sociale ou philosophique, il faudrait le dire dans un langage simple ou populaire;

3. -ne laisser aucune place à l'interprétation en nuançant ses propos. Les gens ordinaires détestent les propos sans nuances.

Pour ce qui est des illusions visuelles telles que présentées dans les vidéos, et bien, beaucoup de gens se seraient demandés quel est le truc dernière ces tours et une minorité y aurait cru "dur comme fer". Mais bien exploité dans une histoire de science-fiction, l'idée des pouvoirs psychiques peut donner de très bon résultat, comme "The Demolished Man" d'Alfred Bester ou des différentes histoires un peu psychadéliques et psychotiques de Philip K.
